New Tandem Kayaks      (2019-2020)

Thank you to Redlands City Council for supporting Wynnum Redlands Canoe Club. Our club was successful in applying for a grant to purchase Tandem Sit On Top Kayaks.

In December, 2 kayaks were purchased.  The Mission Catch, the grey and white double SOT kayak, was put to the test at Christmas Camp by Barb and Tineke.  During the hot, dry weather it was a pleasure to paddle in the cool waters of the Upper Brisbane River.

The Viking Tandem is the Orange double SOT.  It came in very handy when Frank took it out on Clean Up Australia Day to collect rubbish from Tingalpa Creek. The advantage of this type of craft is that it can also be paddled by one person, so it had plenty of room for the bags of rubbish.

The third Tandem is a Freak Sport Double Agent with seats that are set a little higher giving a dry ride.  It has just arrived so will be available to try out soon.

The very hot weather in January and the very wet weather in February has delayed our plans for the official launch of the three craft, so we will celebrate their addition to our club fleet when the weather improves in Autumn.

These craft are suited to all recreational paddlers including families with small children, school aged children coming to our Junior programs and school program, and adults of all ages.  We recommend you give them a try during your next paddle with the club.

We are very pleased to have purchased these craft from a local kayak shop who helped with great deals and great service.  Freak Sports, 1/61Boyland Avenue, Coopers Plains are a pleasure to deal with and stock quality brands.  We can highly recommend them to our members.

WRCC thanks Redlands City Council for their support of our club to help us promote paddling in the Redlands. We look forward to seeing the Tandems on the water often.
